Scope and Contents This series contains 87 small photographs in black and white depicting the time that Capt. Gretchen H. Yoffa spent with the American Red Cross Clubmobiles in Japan. There are photos of Japanese locals, the Clubmobiles and the women that ran them, Japanese architecture, Nagasaki and the aftermath of bombings, horse riding, and some other shots of men in uniform. Scope and Contents This series contains correspondence from or concerning Capt. Gretchen H. Yoffa during the Second World War to her family. In October 1944, she wrote her family from Belgium and described the day to day of her time in Europe, adding a photograph with a young Belgian soldier. In December 1944, she wrote her sister and mentioned Paris being boring, and maybe visiting GI's in the hospital "for some excitement." In September 1945, a telegram was sent from the American Red Cross to her mother...

This series contains one Certificate of Identity of Noncombatant for Capt. Gretchen H. Yoffa, at the time the equivalent of a Second Lieutenant. There is identifying information and an entitlement statement explaining Capt. Yoffa's priveleges as an officer of the Army of the United States should she be captured by the enemy. The cerificate was meant to be pocket carried and is signed by First Lieutenant Elmer F. Poelke, Adjutant General, United States Army.
