This series of photographs focuses on the various leaders of the Civil Rights Movement and covers 1956 to 1977. Photographs contain candid press photographs of individuals such as Martin Luther King, Jr., Coretta Scott King (several photographs), Muhammad Ali, Roy Innis, Ralph D. Abernathy, Angela Davis, and Reverend Jesse Jackson (several photographs).

Scope and Contents

This series contains 2 folders that cover the subject of Black Militants, 1968-1975. The bulk of the photographs depict the Black Panthers including photographs of their leaders and the demonstrations they held. Notable photographs include a photograph of the leaders of the Black Panthers (Huey Newton, David Hilliard, Bobby Seale, and Eldridge Cleaver) and several photographs of militant leader Angela Davis. Also includes a photograph of leader George Jackson's mother, Georgia Jackson.
