Series 3, Clippings, 1943 - 1945
Scope and Contents
This series contains three newspaper clippings and one military unit newsletter. The clippings highlight Capt. Gretchen Yoffa and her sister, as well as the other women of the American Red Cross and the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC), during the Second World War. The unit newsletter, "On the Beam" 20 June, 1945, highlights some daily recreational services on deck of the a ship, as well as short news stories. The news stories include President Truman's travel arrangements, and a story on the firebombing of mainland Japan by Major General Lemay's 21st Bomber Command.
