Biographical / Historical

Sergio de Benedetti was part of the Italian Resistance Movement, Resistenza Italiana, which opposed Nazi Germany and the Italian fascist regime during World War II. After taking part in the movement, de Benedetti wrote his memoirs and attempted publish them in both English and Italian in the 1960’s, but was ultimately not able to do so.

This collection consists of Sergio de Benedetti’s typed manuscript of “Memoirs of an Antifascist”, as well as various documents related to publication.

General Note

This collection consists of a typed Italian manuscript, titled “Note Antifasciste” as well as various materials related to publication. Sergio de Benedetti’s memoirs cover a period from 1912 until the mid 1940’s, including an epilogue from 1966. The manuscript is divided into two parts, the first being “Parte Prima” which includes Chapters I through VII, and the second being “Parte Seconda” which includes Chapters VIII through XIII and an epilogue.
