Biographical / Historical

Joseph Ray Richardson was born on July 9, 1917 in Willoughby, Ohio where he lived and attended college at Ohio Northern University. At school he met Doris Arlene Thompson.

Joseph joined the United States Army and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant after attending Officer Candidate School at Camp Davis, North Carolina in July 1942. He served in the 11th Armored Division and fought in France and Germany. After the war, Lt. Richardson and Doris married on December 22, 1945 and they had two children, Linda and Tom. In their retirement, they travelled to over thirty countries, including Togo, Egypt, and parts of Europe. Lt. Richardson passed away on June 30, 2000 and Doris died October 1, 2015.
