Biographical / Historical
Onnalee Elliott, born to Josephine Winters Elliott on September 25, 1927, was a member of the Chapman University Presidents cabinet and lifelong resident of Santa Ana, California known for her generous donations to Chapman University during her later years. Elliott attended USC where she graduated with a B.S. in Medical Technology, after which she attended Chapman College and received an M.S. in Chemistry. During which time she also worked for Coulter laboratories and helped to advance blood analysis. After retiring, Onnolee took it upon herself to travel the world and indulge in her love of botany and biology. Onnolee was also heavily invested in her family history, as well as early California history. Her love of history led to the creation of the book "Family life in the Early Orange," and "12 Flags Over California;" the latter of which was the title of her Doctoral dissertation at Columbia Pacific University. Onnolee's generous donations to Chapman University’s Leatherby Libraries resulted in the Onnolee B. Elliott, Ph.D. Library of Science and Technology. She passed away on August 20 2016.
