Biographical / Historical
V.A. Reynolds was a Quaker carpenter who moved from Indiana to El Modena, California, with his wife in the 1880s. He was part of the El Modena Friends Church quaker settlement, which was a colony in what is today the city of Orange, California. Reynolds would attend services at a hotel in nearby Ramona, likely attended by others of his religious community, until a wooden church was built in 1887.
