Scope and Contents

Genealogy of Chapman family collected by Norman Chapman. Charles Clarke Chapman and Albert Ellsworth Chapman, Norman Chapman's great-grandfather, were third cousins. The genealogy of the Chapman family is traced back primarily from Edward Chapman of Yorkshire around 1638 and continues to the present. Materials mainly consist of photocopies, internet site prints, and a self-printed monographic history. Three box folders are dedicated to the history of Charles C. Chapman's great-grandfather, Jacob Kimble chapman. Three box-folders containing the geneaology of the Chapman Family as researched by Norman Chapman. Box-folder One deals largely with the history of Jacob Kimbel Chapman, 1803-1870, and his involvement with the early Mormon church. Box-folder Two deals mainly with the Griffith family with some material on Uriah Chapman Sr. [n.d.] and the Overacher and Bratt families. Box-folder Three deals completely with the early of history of the Mormon church. It also contains photocopies of the service records of Samuel Jenne Griffeth [n.d.] and his request for a pension based on his service in the American War of Independence and photocopies of Willard D. Chapman's [n.d.] American Civil War records. Box-folder Four contains the direct lineage of Norman Dennis Chapman. Box Five contains 6 folders of genealogy charts, correspondence and document reprints.
