This collection contains 39 correspondence written by Pvt. Daryl Dudley Ekleberry, USA to his girlfriend Hazel Styler during the First World War. He served with Company E of the 34th Engineers and some subjects of Ekleberry's letters consist of his duties, censorship of letters, rationing of supplies, epidemics, prohibition, and German prisoners of war. Also included are three photographs. Ekleberry was born April 24, 1889 in Crawford County, Ohio and died November 11, 1970 in Charleston, West Virginia. Ekleberry later married Styler, but the date of their marriage is unknown.
