This collection contains 101 letters written by Lance Corporal Daryl Eigen, United States Marine Corps, from 1965 - 1967 to his parents and siblings during his enlistment. LCpl. Eigen served on the frontline in the Vietnam War with the 3rd battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, and the 2nd battalion, 9th Marine Regiment. The letters detail his experiences in basic training, the various military courses that he attended, and his deployment to Vietnam. Also included are newspaper clippings and the March 8, 1999 issue of Newsweek that has a feature on Vietnam vets.
