This collection contains one letter written by Major Ralph W. Newton to Carolyn Wall during the First World War informing her of the death of her fiancee, John F. Pleiss. Pleiss was admitted to the Post Hospital in Fort Thomas, Kentucky on October 11, 1918. He died a short time later from the flu.
